Brief: To create a leaflet to instruct users on how to make a three-hole sewn booklet. I chose a small format so that it could be stored neatly with sewing equipment. The challenge was to find a clear and logical way in which to show each step of the process; I considered including illustrations of hands but decided this was unnecessary and that they would take up a lot of space. Text was placed inside the bounds of the illustrations to maximise the size of the illustrations themselves.
The following images provide insight into the way I approached the project, and some of my information design considerations. I started by thinking about the steps needed to complete the task, and then condensed them down, refining them multiple times to ensure efficiency and clarity. I then took to working out what each step looked like and involved, before I began illustrating the booklet and testing out different solutions to depicting certain actions. I think this approach was effective.
