Brief: To organise, promote and host a series of design talks for students at the Department of Typography & Graphic Communication at the University of Reading. Baseline shift is an ongoing team job in the Department; I was a team member for two years, and team leader for the 2020–21 academic year.

A 2020/21 Baseline shift poster on the wall in the Department. I was not responsible for designing the visual identity of Baseline shift, but played a significant part in its refinement and application.

In the year I led the team, we moved Baseline shift online, upped session promotion, increased student leadership – contacting and booking 10 speakers ourselves – and gained very positive feedback.

As part of Baseline shift, we sum up every session in a blog post to best digest the key takeaways and reflect on tips raised by speakers which relate to design practice. You can find our blog posts here (many of which are written by me), and read more about my experience of running Baseline shift here.
