Brief: To design a visual identity and packaging for a manufacturer of low energy, environmentally friendly, light bulbs and LEDs. I decided to explore a soft and natural route for the identity, considering this appropriate to the theme, and chose a natural brown card for the packaging, taking a minimal approach and aiming to make each bulb easily identifiable: putting key information clearly on the front, and relevantly grouping all necessary information on the back. The bulb illustrations were designed to be expandable and adaptable, with the bulb shape and fitting type easy interchangeable for a larger range of products.

The set of four boxes I created for different kinds and shapes of bulb.

The front, side and top of the box. The bulb information on the front can be seen clearly at an angle and from distance.

Sketched alterations of a draft logo design.

The logo design.

The internal components of the box which provide the bulb with protection and keep it secure.

Close up of the internal components. These utilise a subtle halftone pattern which was selected for its uplifting and fresh feel.

The front face of all four boxes showing the series of modular bulb illustrations.

The side of the box.

The top, side and back of the box.

The back of all four boxes showing an extended amount of bulb information, divided into clear categories to make it easily digestible.

The bulbs in context.

The top of the boxes detailing the implementation of a 'pull to open' message to aid usability.
